CONCERT | Clara Schumann's Life and Love

On the occasion of Clara Schumann’s 200th anniversary in 2019, the acclaimed Austrian pianist and lecturer Elisabeth Eschwé has created a scenic piano recital: Staging Clara Schumann from her early childhood under the tutorial guidance of her father Friedrich Wieck, to the celebrated prodigy, secret fiancé and then wife of Robert Schumann, to a grief stricken mother and widow, and finally her years as internationally renowned pianist and lifelong friend of Johannes Brahms.

Parking on International Court is available after 6:30 pm (for the duration of the event) or on 36th Street; access to the Embassy through the park behind the building.

A registration is not a guarantee of a seat as these are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. Doors close at event start-time.

Elisabeth Eschwé was born in Vienna from an Austro-Hungarian family of musicians and piano manufacturers. After studying piano as well as acting at the Conservatory of Vienna , she also received a Master’s degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Vienna. She is a soloist and chamber musician, as well as a reciter. She has specialized in scenic literary recitals which have led her all over Europe, USA, and Australia, working as an international lecturer and juror.
