Inspired by the Greek Mythology, four young European musicians, Nadia Kalmykova, Ljuba Kalmykova, Loredana Apetrei and Loukia Loulaki founded the Selini Quartet in Vienna in 2017. They are featured in NASOM (New Austrian Sound of Music) and have won several prizes in prestigious international music competitions.
In this virtual concert, recorded in honor of the International Women’s Day 2022, the Selini Quartet features female composers like Fanny Mendelssohn, the sister of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (after her marriage known as Fanny Hensel), Hildegrad von Bingen and Julia Purgina, a contemporary Austrian composer and violinist.
